Short Bio:
Sibel Ileana Okumus is a policy and advocacy advisor focused on energy efficiency, sustainability, and the water-energy nexus. In her role at the European Alliance to Save Energy (EU-ASE), she works on developing policy ideas and advocating for more sustainable energy practices across Europe. She has been involved in key legislative processes, like the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and the Construction Products Regulation (CPR), contributing to discussions and working with different stakeholders. Ileana is also an activist for gender equality and women’s empowerment. As the co-founder and co-host of Çağ Akarken, a bilingual podcast and platform, she promotes critical thinking and intellectual conversations. She manages everything from content creation to leading a team of writers and handling marketing. With a Master’s in International Politics from KU Leuven and a Bachelor’s in Political Science and International Relations from Istanbul University, she combines her academic background with her commitment to promoting positive change in both energy policy and gender equality.
